...that we just finished tonight's Insanity workout at 10 and we are meeting at 6 am for the next one
...that it's been crazy at work this week
...that if I could find 5 knit dresses I loved as much as I love the one I wore today, I would wear them every day, every week!

... that I have a countdown going until I can have Coke, 10 Days!!!

...that I want to have a dinner with friends just like I enjoyed last night at least once a week, great weather, great food, great company!

...that my brain is fried and this is all I can think of for tonight

How to Lose Belly Fat

So this article was on my Google How-To today.

I have a few comments.

1.  That part where it says with aerobic exercise, belly fat goes first.  Um, lie.  At least for me.  My belly wants to stay with me.  I have named my love handles Fred and Ethel, and they fluctuate in size, but I've never feared losing them.  I've lost weight in my feet (no lie, when I was at my biggest, I wore a 10..5-11, now I wear 9-9.5), my face, my arms, my legs, don't get me wrong, all great, but the belly, that's the last to go.  I've made a dent, but I have miles to go.

2.  Yes, whole grains are wonderful, I've gotten to the point that's what I prefer, but if you eat large bowls of whole grain spaghetti night after night, the belly doesn't go away.  I guess that should be obvious.

3.  The good fats, I love them, but avacado on a Totino's pizza is probably not what they are referring to. (just had to throw this picture on here again since it grosses my mom and sister out)

All this goes along with my weekend, in which Emily and I did Insanity Friday night and Saturday.  She was way bummed Saturday due to weight gain, as I had been earlier in the week.  I was way bummed Saturday because my knee has started hurting and I don't want to injure myself.  Luckily, Emily is hilarious, and had me laughing so hard thru the abs session, I couldn't hold my plank.  Sunday, when it was time to meet, I did NOT want to go.  My knee was still hurting, I was frustrated, etc, so through texts we decided that I needed some rest.  I was really hesitant to ask for some extra days off, but Emily was great about it, and actually suggested it after my whining session.  I think both our brains and bodies need a break from Insanity.

I also want to take this opportunity to get my eating back on track.  Here's a problem I have... when I workout, I think it gives me free range to eat whatever I want, and the workouts leave me starving!!

So, this week's goals are healthy breakfasts (which I'm usually pretty decent about), bringing myself a healthy lunch to work (which I'm horrible about), and keeping dinner small and healthy (which I was doing ok with until the workouts started).  I still can't believe I've lost no weight when I've combined no Cokes and Insanity (ps, I'm still dreaming about Cokes)

I did nothing exercise wise yesterday and honestly my knee is already feeling better.  I'm still feeling it, but it's not making me want to limp.  But my legs still feel exhausted.  I've had shin splints for two days, my rear end hurts, and my hamstrings are sore.

Tonight's workout plan is kettlebells and walking.  Light and easy, I'm looking forward to it.

It's Ok Thursday - 3/22/12

Its Ok Thursdays

Whew, I'm about ready for bed, but first...
It's Ok...
...that I ran to meet my friends for breakfast this morning
...that I ran b/c I have a spray tan and needed a reason to wear short shorts ...that a spray tan ALWAYS makes me feel like a bronze goddess
...that I love running downhill b/c it gives me just a hint of what it would be like to run really fast

...that I ran back a longer way so I wouldn't have to run back up the hill I ran down

...that our work trivia team was destroyed in trivia tonight

...that they asked trivia questions like "Name the three isotopes in hydrogen."  Say what????

...that work has kicked my tail this week

...that the workouts that cause me to gain weight also have given me a new best friend... the ice pack

...that my tax return hasn't even be started

...that I have an irrational fear of coyotes that stems from an episode of Little House on the Prairie where Laura and Mary are trapped in the barn and a pack of rabid dogs are after them (at least that's how I remember it); the fear hit full force when I saw a coyote in the parking lot at work yesterday!!!

Hope you've had a great Thursday... almost the weekend, I'm ready this week!!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

Hello!!

Today I have lots of loves on my mind...

1.  I'm loving that we did our second fit test with Insanity tonight and I increased my reps in every exercise!!

Source: etsy.com via Anna on Pinterest
2.  I'm loving spring.  Some of my tulips are up in my yard, my very favorite flower!

3.  I'm loving the shopping spree I did at Old Navy today.  I was going to show you a picture of some stuff I bought, but they are coming up way too big.  Pink shorts, a clearance dress for $8.  I hope some of it fits!

4.  I'm loving spray tans.  I got one today, and sun goddess feeling is already hitting me.
5.  I'm loving my attempt to make cheap pizza a little more gourment...

That's right, avacado on a Totino's    :-)  Not too bad

Hope you are having a great week...

It was going well until...

It's Monday, hasn't been a bad one until I got the news... Peyton is going to Denver. Now I shouldn't be crushed by this, it's just football, but I am. I had these visions of Peyton back in TN, me in Titan stadium cheering him on. It was glorious

But alas, it shant be.  Instead, he's headed to Denver, where he will not only NOT be a Titan, but he will be knocking Tebow out.  It's a bummer.

In other news, I had a fun weekend.  Friday night, I did nothing.  I was T-total worn out.  I'm telling you those early morning workouts get me down.  So, I did a whole lot of nothing and went to bed early.

Saturday, I cleaned some and headed to the gym for Cardio Recovery (yay, I needed a recovery day).  Then, our weekly Saturday Mexican lunch with the family.  Home for a shower, and headed to Nashville.  First I met up with my sister and nephew, and they helped me shop.  Let me just interrupt with saying, I gave her a shout out Friday, but my sister is amazing.  Will, my nephew, is really good, but he's 14 months old, so he wants to be running around, not carried by me or in the shopping cart.  Clair handles him like a pro (while she's 6 months pregnant) while I nearly let him jump out of my arms.  No joke, we went to another store and I was in a full on sweat trying to wrangle him, and Clair just handles it like it's no big deal.

But I digress... I can't shop very well on my own.  I do much better when I have an opinion from others, so Clair was a great help.  I ended up with a tank, a shirt, and a cardigan from Target.  Then we went next door and I found a dress at this little boutique shop called Blush.  I think the dress will be great for a rehearsal dinner this summer, as well as another wedding I'm invited to.  The dress is going to need some good looking arms to go in it, so Insanity, keep working!

After that, I met up with a couple girls from college.  We painted at on of those paint classes, mine was terrible, worst I've ever done.  Then, we ate pizza, Pie in the Sky Pizza.  Could have been the best pizza I've ever put in my mouth.  I don't know if it was really that good, or if I was just that hungry, but it had chicken, corn, avacado, and some kind of extra sauce on it. YUM!!!  Good to see two of my favorite girls and catch up!

Sunday was church.  We are starting a new read thru the New Testament book in Sunday school that I'm looking forward to.  Then, home, and my dad came and picked me up to head back to Nashville!  I went with my dad and two of his friends to the first round of the Women's NCAA tournamnt.

It was in Memorial Gym at the Vanderbilt stadium.  I hadn't been there since I was much younger.

Let me tell you, it was lots cooler in my little person mind.

Dear Vandy, with as much as you charge for tuition, why do you not have air conditioning in that gym, and why do you have hard benches for seats???

My friend said something about "Memorial Magic".  All it did was magically numb my rear end!

The cool thing about the tournament for me was getting to see teams I've always watched on TV, aka Duke.

Yes, Mr. Blue Devil himself!

Hope you had a great weekend!

P.S., just had to talk my friend off a ledge after he heard the Peyton news... crushing, I tell you, crushing for us Vol fans!   :-)

Friday's Letters

Photobucket

Dear Future Husband, I hope you exist.  I hope you are fun and you make me laugh.  I hope you are patient and can deal with my craziness.  Look forward to meeting you.  Dear Clair, you are a champ.  Your ability to wrangle one kid while growing another is incredible.  You are raising an awesome kid and he's so lucky to have you. Dear Emily, thanks, my rump never would be out of bed at 5:40 if I weren't meeting you.  Dear Duke, I can't believe you just lost! Dear Body, hang in there.  Only three more days until a rest day.  Dear Lord, help me to be patient, guide me down the path that you want for me.  Be with those all around me who need comforting for different reasons.  Amen

Day Off

I think if I could just do what I wanted with no worries about money, etc., today is what I would do.

I took the day off technically, but that's not really how my job works, so it went something like this...

6 am - Insanity workout

7 am - computer time/coffee/hot bath

8 am - work

9:30 am - breakfast with my mom's friends.  I miss them.  We don't see each other as much as we used to and it always brightens my day to see them.  We were all laughing hysterically at one point.

10:30 am - Conference call for work... on my couch :-)

12 - lunch with my family

1 pm - errands in town

1:30 pm - work

3 pm - watch basketball/nap

4 pm - limited cleaning/work

5 pm - met up with my Dad and sister to go watch my cousin's team play in the state championship

10 pm - back home and blogging about my day

Yup, work is perfect when it's sporadic, done from my couch and allows for a nap mid-day!

Really, I have a great job with great people, I just wish it was 45 minutes closer to my house!!

Anyway, great day with great people, bring on Friday!!

I think it's time to read a little and hit the sack, 6 am and Insanity will be here again before you know it!!

It's Ok Thursday - 3/15/12

Its Ok Thursdays

It's Thursday!!

And I'm linking up with Neely and Amber for It's Ok Thursday.

It's Ok...

...that it makes me incredibly happy that all my old games showing on Words with Friends right now are wins.

...that I don't quite understand this new obsession with the "Draw Something" app because there aren't winners and losers

...that I did two Insanity workouts in less than 10 hours (really, it's not Ok, my whole body hurts)

...that I lay in bed at night and feel my body twitch and hurt after workouts

...that I'm learning to enjoy eating meals out by myself

...that I'm not seeing the scale drop at all even with all these crazy workouts (building muscle? at least that's what I'm telling myself)

...that I've had spaghetti for dinner 6 of the past 7 nights... maybe that explains the prior statement

...that everyone else seems to be on spring break, and I'm not

...that I missed getting my bracket entered on ESPN by about 2 minutes (way to go procrastinator)

...that I can't wait to see my friends on Saturday!!

...that I'm trying to work in a trip to Target on Saturday so I can get some new spring dresses.  I hear them calling my name...

...that I dreamed about drinking Cokes this week and then I felt so guilty

...that I watch Sports Center every night to see the latest on what team Peyton is going to pick... pick the Titans, pick the Titans!!

Hope everyone is having a great Thursday!!

And Here I Sit...

At my parents house.  I babysat tonight while my sisters and dad went to the Fabulous 50's show.  It's a show where local talent performs.  My mom has been in it from the beginning, 26 years, I believe!  They do a fantastic job.  I'm going next week and already looking forward to it.  Will, my nephew, was so much fun tonight.  We read the same book 30 times or so, danced to "Drop It Low, Girl", my favorite Zumba song, and played with some puzzles, tractor, and alligator.  Good times.  Another picture, just because I think he's so cute.

Interesting results from the Republican primaries tonight.  I've always enjoyed politics, always watched, read, etc, and this is leading up to what could be a most interesting convention.  I hear people who say this ongoing primary is terrible for the Republican party, but I say bring it on, might as well hear the bad now while we have a group to pick from.  Obama is going to bring out any skeltons anyway, let's see it now!

And another cute nephew pic... last one...

Um, I don't know why they all are sideways.  Turn your head and look, he's work it ;-)
So glad to have today OFF from Insanity.  I was ready for a break.  My workout cousin was crying during the workout last night, I lie not, crying.  I did see a girl's picture on Facebook today that was her post Insanity picture.  Wow, she looked awesome.  Grant it, we probably aren't starting out in the same shape, but still, made me want to start week 2 tomorrow.  A friend and I walked at work today; it was nice, relaxed, no crying, but still moved!

Since we are all over the place tonight, I wanted to share some verses from our church bulletin today.  We've had a lot of loss and tough situations in our church and in our town lately, and so today our preacher listed some verses of comfort...

Ps 18:30-31
30 As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless.
He is a shield for all who take refuge in him.
31 For who is God besides the LORD? And who is the Rock except our God? NIV

Ps 46:1-3
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the
heart of the sea,
3 though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.

Ps 118:8-9
8 It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man.
9 It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in princes. NIV

2 Cor 1:3-7
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and
the God of all comfort , 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those
in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. 5 For just as the
sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.
6 If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your
comfort , which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. 7 And
our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also
you share in our comfort. NIV

Saturday Randomness!

I know, my post titles really draw you in...

This morning my Mom called and asked if I would keep my nephew for the morning.  My sister left him in town for the weekend.  This picture is from a a month or two ago, because the pic I took today wasn't so great.  He's pretty cute, isn't he??

We had fun, walked down the street to see a friend, played in the yard a little, spent some time opening and putting the top back on chapstick, all sorts of good stuff.  Then, we met my parents, sister, and cousin for lunch, yum!  Then, Cousin, Mama, and I went to do Insanity.  I was afraid it was Pure Cardio day.  Emily kept saying there was no way, thank goodness she was right.  It was Cardio Recovery, which we desperately needed.  Still very tough, but thank goodness no crazy warm up.  I hurt all over!!

I came home and did the rest part.  Nice little nap and basketball watching.  Tonight much do some work work that I avoided today.

Random Thoughts for Today...

#1.  I want my next home to have brown floors in the bathroom to match my brown hair so it doesn't glare at you from the white tile.

#2.  My new March Madness resolution is to not want to punch Holly Rowe in the face every time she comes on the TV screen.  I don't know what it is about her, it's not really her fault, but she drives me crazy.

#3.  I miss Friday Night Lights

#4.  I never expected to like my Toms shoes as much as I do.  Great birthday present from a friend!

#5.  I got the coolest picture frames for Christmas.  Now I just have to pick some pictures and get them on the wall.  Yep, two years in the house and nothing on the walls.  Can we say no decorating style???

Hope you have a great weekend!!

Friday's Letters

Photobucket

Linking up with Ashley for Friday's Letters

Dear 4:30, you most rudely interrupted my sleep and kept me awake, and are making me really wish for a nap right now.  Dear Insanity Workout, you are kicking my tail.  Dear Nephew Will, hope we get to hang out some this weekend.  Dear Clair, thanks for baking my cookies today.  Dear Brandi, thanks for lunch this week.  Dear Emily, thanks for holding me accountable. Dear Tax Returns, I wish you were all done.  Dear Sunshine, please stay around for the weekend!  Dear Blog World, never would have dreamed how much I gain from reading your posts.  Dear Americans, please pray about the coming elections.

Its Ok Thursdays

It's Thursday!!  For some reason, this week has flown by.

So let's talk about what's ok this week.

It's ok...

...that the exercise room at the gym smelled so foul last night we had to go do our DVD in the kitchen

...that the smell was so bad I'm afraid it could have gotten into my clothes and I might have to burn them

...that at one point I smelled the smell once I got home, I'm afraid it burned into my nose hairs.

...that my guy didn't win the Republican primary in my state.  I think he's losing ground fast, but I'm still holding on to hope.

...that I got some help at work, which has been awesome!!, but I'm not feeling much less busy yet.

...that I'm super excited about dinner with a girl I used to babysit that is now a friend (funny how age matters so little the older you get)

...that I wish I had sprayed down my shoes this morning, they are stinky!

...that lots of my comments have been about nasty smells this morning.

...that my nose is so freaked out after last night, I fabreezed everything in sight this morning.

...that I still miss Cokes every day

...that I'm scared of restarting the Insanity workout

...that I'm a little bummed about my friend cancelling our Friday morning coffee date, but it will just make next week's more fun
Happy Thursday People, hope it's the start to a great weekend!!

I Ain't Got It

So, it's Wednesday and I'd love to be linking to Pinteresting, but it's 11:00, I'm tired, and I'm a slow blogger, that would just take too much time.  So, today, instead, I have a confession.  I talk a good game, I can talk about faith, I can give you scriptures on faith.  But you know the realization I came to today, I don't have it.  Or at least not enough, not a mustard seed.  You want to know my irrational fear?  I have a fear of who God will want me to marry.  I have a fear He's going to want me to marry some guy I don't like.  Is that not the craziest thing ever?  I really want to turn my love life (or lack thereof) over to Him, b/c me trying to control it has been nothing but a disaster, but I think I'm scared.  I'd almost rather be single than let God have control.  That is so warped.
I have a friend who's had a rough week and we've been talking a good bit about this subject.  So that's my goal, to actually live like I'm talking.  To really believe that God's plan is best.  To ask for the Holy Spirit's leading in this and follow His nudgings.
Please understand, I'm not desperate to be married, I'm perfectly content single, maybe too content.  What I want to get away from is thinking I know best, trying to manipulate things into going my way, and trying to control things.  I want to let go and let God.  I do know one thing, in my recent attempts at this, I feel peace that eludes me when I try to retain control.

And in other news... as a TN graduate... where will Peyton go???????????

It's Ok Thursday - 3/1/12

Its Ok Thursdays

Linking up with Neely and Amber for It's Ok Thursday!

It's OK...

...that I am sooooo sore (I know I wore out this subject in yesterday's post, but let's add to the aching calves, hamstrings, and abs some sore arms!)

...that I don't blog enough to warrent it, but I'm thinking about getting a blog makeover

...that I've given up Cokes for Lent even though my church doesn't really practice Lent (but a girl at work explained it to me)

...that I've given up Cokes for Lent, but I still desperately want one EVERY. SINGLE. MORNING!

...that I ate a dessert on Saturday night and I've thought about it every day since, it was that good!

...that I always told myself I wasn't a sweets person, but since giving up the Coke, I've been filling that sugar hole with other things :-(  (can you tell this giving up Cokes thing has been a challenge?)

...that it's been way too long since I've seen my sweet nephew, but his lovely Mama did a new blog post last night, and sent me a picture today (he fell asleep sitting straight up in his bed)

...that I'm jealous that my sister has a whole 10 followers of her blog while I only have 7... yes I know this makes us both losers, but I'm still jealous of her extra 3, especially since she posts maybe once a month!... Maybe I need a cute kid... or better writing skills... or an interesting life :-)

...that I miss football

... that I would rather clean then watch baseball

...that I want a personal assistant to do my clothes returns, literally, I would pay someone to do it.  Me, order online, assistant, take back all the stuff I don't want.

...that my friends are better than yours, ok, you might not agree, but I'd put mine up against most anyone's.  God has greatly blessed me with wonderful friends, and He continues to give me more.

...that I've been on  an all out search for my dust pan and finally had resigned to the fact I was going to have to buy a new one, when my sweet mom found it. Where?  With the cleaning supplies.  Who would look there??

Hope you are having a Great Thursday!!  It's a beatiful day in Tennessee!
